Thursday and Friday will be spent working on assignment sheet for Chapter 6 (Property, Plant, and Equipment Assets and Intangible Assets). Section 1 covers determining costs and depreciation of plant assets, Section 2 covers calculating and recording depreciation, and Section 3 covers disposing of plant assets.

The first week of school will be spent doing the following:

Completing administrative paperwork (syllabus, computer lab rules, signature sheet, student information sheet)
Doing number drill work in the Ainsworth program
Learning about accounting careers through discussion, online research, and a video.
Chapter 1 (You and the World of Accounting) vocabulary (write out terms and definitions), "Do the Math" on page 12 and 16, and "A Matter of Ethics" on page 24.
Learning about the term networking as it relates to making contacts with others in order to learn about careers and get advice. We will read and summarize an AJC article that is a great example of how networking helped a girl in Atlanta get an acceptance letter to Emory University.
Chapter 2 (The World of Business and Accounting) vocabulary, "Do the Math" and Problem 2-3 on p. 36.

Begin working in the Word unit of the Microsoft text (In lesson 1 type terms and definitions on pages 3 and 5, study and know figure 1.1 on page 7 showing the parts of the word screen, and type Skillbuilder on page 24)
