Tuesday- Asia Wall Map. How does climate affect population patterns in Asia.

Wednesday- Wrap up Asia unit with some lessons on the people of Asia. Religion in Asia Graphic Organizer Assigned. Due Friday.

Thursday- People of Asia Lessons. The culture of Asian Food Day assignments.

Friday- Current Events on Asia. Relgion in Asia Graphic organizer Due. Asian Food Day.

]]> Only four weeks of this semester left guys! You all have done such a great job. Make sure to complete every current event for the rest of the semester if you are missing any. Make sure to cite your source, write it out to 3/4 of a page, and print off your article. I have been grading these between a 70 and 80 if you do not do these things. We will be moving very quickly for the remainder of the semester. Make everything you do count. Some of you are borderline with your grades and must work very hard to get the most out of your World Geography Class.

Mapping the Americas Extracurricular Activity and Contest

The Georgia Geographic Alliance invites all Georgia students to participate in a postcard contest. This contest is designed to promote Geography Awareness by challenging all students to illustrate a postcard using this year’s theme,” Mapping the Americas”.

Guidelines and Deadlines
Post cards can be submitted in three divisions:
K-5th grades (Elementary)
6-8th grades ( Middle)
9-12th grades (High)

*Artwork must incorporate the theme “Mapping the Americas”.
*Only original hand-drawn postcards will be accepted.
*Postcards must be made with a 4” x 6” index card.
*The postcard’s address side must show the student’s name, grade and school address. Entries will not be
returned to the artist.
*Students must include a letter of verification from their teacher.
*Only one entry per student.
*Mail your completed postcards in an envelope to:

*Postcards must be received by February 1, 2009
*Winning postcards will be displayed at the Spring Geofest and on the Georgia Geographic Alliance Website -

Grand Prize - The first place winners for each division will compete for the grand prize of $100
Prizes for each division:
*1st Place - $50
*2nd Place - $30
*3rd Place - $20

We will be reviewing for the Middle East Test on Friday assuming we get through all the material we need to by then. These are the things I would like you to concentrate on for the Middle East Test:

-Maps, Physical and Political with specific regards to the fresh water sources, the countries, the bodies of water, and major landforms

-Iraq War

-Afghanistan War

-Palestinian-Israeli Conflict

-Water Scarcity

-Oil and its Significance

Students completed maps and a Reading Study Guide for the Unit. This should help. Students should study their notes and look for any additional resources I have put on the blog.

Foreign Foods: Extra Credit

As an extra credit option you may prepare a regional food dish to share with the class. You will need to do a little research to receive the maximum points and fill out the attached document. Remember if you choose to do this option, that students may need eating utinsils as well. Preferably, you will prepare a dish from the region we are currently studying. You may do one on Africa still as well. Thanks
