August 11, 2008

Welcome back to school! I hope you had a great summer and that you are ready for a great semester. This week we will be jumping right in so come to class prepared to learn.

We will be covering about 5,000 years of history this semester so the pace will be fairly quick. Rather than learning lots of names, places, dates (the WHO, WHERE, WHEN), you as honors students will be focusing more on the WHY and HOW and ultimately, the significance and impact of historical events. Although there are many facts to learn, you will be focusing more on concepts rather than memorization.....analyzing, predicting, applying, creating, summarizing, evaluating, etc.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and working with you this semester.
