Synthesis overall feedback: I glanced over your synthesis essays, and what I have noticed is that many of you need to revamp your thesis: the thesis MUST contain a strong claim and must also address the prompt. Remember that the goal of the synthesis essay is for the student to: 1. read excerpts about a certain controversial issue; 2. make a claim about that issue (defend, challenge, or qualify; and 3. back up claim in a well-organized essay that uses evidence from at least three of the sources. You may use 4 of the sources, but I would suggest that you don't use more.
