IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE READ!!!!

Dear Swimmers, Divers, Coaches, and Parents,

Due to fire code regulations, the growing number of athletes interested in swimming and diving in the county, and the lack of facilities available, it is necessary to make some adjustments to our meet format in order to allow all of our athletes an opportunity to participate. As I mentioned earlier in the invitation, we would prefer to have ONLY the athletes and parent volunteers attend the meet. This is because we have 395 swimmers and divers in the meet. We are only allowed to have 350 athletes in a meet and 310 officials, volunteers, coaches, employees, and parents.

We have 11 teams with about 25 coaches and the 50 volunteers that will make the meet possible. We are over the athlete limit by 45 swimmers. I strongly suggest to your team, parents, and booster club, that they do NOT attend. My booster club will be charging $10.00 at the door for admission, including a heat sheet. This price was picked to be a deterrent for spectators to decrease the attendance. Please inform your team. I will ask for 2 volunteers from each team if you could send me their names so they do not have to pay and could potentially time, that would be wonderful.

I know that we work at least 6 days a week for our swimmers and divers because we value our athletes. This is an opportunity for them. I truly believe that high school athletics is not about the coaches or the parents. My goal, this meet, is to give swimmers and divers an opportunity to compete, earn points for their team, break records, and have fun. Thank you for your support. We could not do it without you.

The Girls sheet was not with the Boys after the meet. If you are a girl, please email me what you want to swim. I cannot guarentee it this meet, but I can next meet.

Congratulations to the H2OYAS!! Girls placed 2nd and Harrison placced 2nd in the combined score!

Madison Jacobi broke a school record . She swam a 1:55.06 in the 200FR!! Nice Job!!!

Practice will be cancelled on monday 1/05.

Practice will resume beginning on 1/06. EVERY swimmer that attends Coach Dunk's and Coach Sam's practice will attend practice beginning Tuesday. Bring workout clothes and your suit. We will be dividing the team into 3 groups (6 lanes). We will rotate between workouts and dry land. Example: Group a does dry land for 15 minutes and swims for 40 minutes. Group b sims for 20, dry land for 15, swims for 20. Group c swims for 40 and does dry land for 15. All groups will roate.
Practice schedule:
Monday: 6-7 (except 1/5)
Tuesday: 6-8
Wednesday: 6-7
Thursday: 6-7
Friday: 4-5

Seniors: Please meet me on WEDNESDAY after homeroom in the Gym Lobby! We need to take a picture.

Class nights will be on Friday January 9th there will be more information when I find out what is going on.

Meet begins at 4:00pm.

All relays will be posted at 1:30. MOST swimmers will be in 3 realys. this should be a fun meet. Have a good time!

Divers:
You will dive :^) Make sure you have your dive sheets ready ASAP. I will be there at 1:30 if you need to come early to receive help with your dive sheets. they need to be turned in by 3:00. I will be doing warm ups at 2:20.

Parents:
Thank you for your patience! We will not need very many timers/volunteers at this meet. Maybe one or two. Our REAL BIG meet will be at the Central Aquatic Cetner on January 10th. It will begin at 4:00pm with warm ups at 2:30. Because Harrison is running the meet, we will need LOTS of volunteers. Timers, runners, and all that good stuff that makes this fun. On January 10th, the seniors will have their senior recognition. Our season is quickly coming to a close. These are the memories that our student athletes will take with them. We can do it!

Captain's Practice 4-5

Holiday Dinner:Our Holiday Party will be next Friday, December 19th from 6:30-8:30 at the Kennesaw First Baptist Church. The address is 2958 N Main Street Kennesaw, GA 30144. It will be catered for dinner. In lieu of a gift exchange, the team will be doing a charity donation to Americares. Americares is a non profit organization based out of Conn. and they do work across the globe. One particular need is for baby blankets, they can be purchases or kids can buy a yard of fleece and do a no sew blanket, these blankets go to new borns in El Salvador and other countries who go home wrapped in newspaper, yep, newspaper, just think of that!! We can help outside of our community with this and it is fun for the kids to know they are making a difference in a little ones start in life! We will collect and ship the blankets to Americares and they then distribute the blankets. So the swimmers and Divers will need to bring a baby blanket, OR 1 yd of Fleece fabric and can make the blankets at the Christmas party.

Dear Parents,

I wanted to take a moment to get the information on the H2OYAS trip to McCallie. First all payments and appropriate forms need to be submitted PRIOR to boarding the bus. Coach Dunk has made this very clear and we need to make sure no swimmer is left out! If you attend the meet and plan for your child to ride home with you instead of the bus, the appropriate form must be on file with Coach Dunk. Below is an outline of the schedule:

1. Friday morning overnight bags can be dropped off at Trailer 3 or room 408.

2. Friday immediately after school board the bus by the clock tower after gathering overnight bags. Parents who would like to see the swimmers off and drop off their overnight bags need to be at the school by 3:15.

3. Friday night at McCallie. Divers compete. We will have a pizza dinner for our team during the diving competition. At the completion of the diving competition we will be staying at :

Room assignments have 3-4 students per room. We have 8 chaperones that will be on the trip.

4. Saturday morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and travel to McCallie for the morning session. Lunch will be provided as well as snacks during the day. We have a several hour break and will be traveling to the mall to "get away" from the pool. The afternoon /finals will begin at 5:30.

5. After the finals we will return to Harrison. We will stop for dinner on the way home. STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THEIR OWN DINNER. We plan on stopping for fast food. Please make sure your swimmer has money for dinner.

6. Return time to Harrison should be between 10 -11 PM. Please make sure your swimmer has a ride home.

Draft Itinerary
Friday December 5th

3:45pm leave school (Divers we will make plans when we have numbers set)
5:30 Arrive at McCallie in Chattanooga, TN
Dive Meet: The pool will be available to warm-up at 4:00 p.m. The girls will have the boards to warm-up from 5:15 – 5:45 p.m. The girls will dive first starting at 5:45 p.m. There will be a half-hour warm-up for the boys after the girl’s competition. The diving meet is usually over around 9:30 p.m.
PIzza will be provided for dinner. This will be the first meet for our divers will can't wait to cheer the on!!!
Lights out by 10:00pm. We have a BIG DAY on Saturday.

Saturday December 6th
The swim meet will be a prelim/final meet on Saturday, December 6.
Wake and eat around 6:00
Be on the bus by 6:20 (depending on warm up schedule)
Warm ups are usually around 6:45 or 7:00.
8:30 a.m. Prelims begin
around 1:30 p.m. Prelims end
5:30 p.m. Finals Begin
Bring money for dinner on the way home!
Arrive around 10:00-11:00

The prelims are swum in a 10-lane course and finals in an 8-lane course. The 400 free relays will be a timed final event and all heats will be swum in finals in 10 lanes.

Our itinerary is subject to chage and will be finalized on Friday. More information will follow once we have our final count.

The embroidered patch on the wind suit is not in. As soon as we get them, we will distribut them. Caps are not in. When we get them we will distribute them. Wind suits can be picked up after the meet Friday and Saturday or at the Monday Morning Mandatory.

We are having to adjust practice because we have the BEST problem I can think of, too many swimmers! There are too many swimmers in a lane, between 10-13. The most we can swim is a 50 before we run into a teammate. By a division of students we are hoping to increase the conditioning of all the swimmers and provide better instruction. Each swimmer is valuable to the Harrison Swim and Dive program. We see a great deal of potential in all our swimmers. We believe this is the best way to tap into that potential is to give them room to grow and more individual support through the coaching staff. Our hopes are that we can cultivate speed, endurance, and technique to provide depth and stamina for our team. Please keep in mind the groups are tentative until we find the best option for the swimmers. Thank you for your support.

Warmups: 7:00am (Harrison is in the water at 7:00 am. You need to be on the pool deck at 6:45am)

Co-Ed Relays must include two boys and two girls

Swimmers in 4 X 100 IM Relay each swim a 100 yd IM

Swimmers in 8 X 25 Free Relay each swim 25 yards - 4 swimmers will start at each end of the pool

8 X 25 Medley Relay: first set of two swimmers swim backstroke, second set of two swimmers swim breaststroke, third set of two swimmers swim butterfly, last two swimmers swim freestyle (each swimmer swims 25 yards)

There will NOT be a monday morning meeting on November 10, 2008. The administration has called a mandatory meeting for all teachers. We will meet on Tuesday November 11 at 7:40 in the theater. SPIRIT wear has come in and will be distrubuted on Tuesday morning. This meeting is mandatory.

Meet Entries: Blue/Green Meet

Everyone is swimming at least 2 events. Those of you swimming 2 events, if you think you can swim something other than the 50 free, tell me today.

Relays are not complete or sorted. I need to have room for changes. The meet will be finalized today!

If you do not like what you are swimming, send me an email. It may or may not be changed, but it will be noted.

If you are on the list and do not belong, tell me ASAP!

If you are not in the line up and want to swim I NEED TO KNOW NOW!!!!!

Harrison will be having its Blue Green Meet at the West Cobb Aquatic Center on Friday November 7th. Parents, we will need timers, food for the swimmers, and a loud cheering section!!

At 8:00-10:00pm we will meet back up at the Stars and Strikes off of Dallas Highway.

Monday Morning Meetings are Mandatory!

The last day to register is Wednesday October 29th! If you are in a sport and cannot participate until after Wednesday the 29th, DO NOT WORRY!! Just make sure that all of the forms and fees are turned in. Windsuits and Swimsuits are mandatory and must be purchased by Wednesday October 29th.

The last day to order Swimsuits and Windsuits is Wednesday October 29th!!

Coach Dunk is turning in all forms to vendors on Wednesday to have suits and spirit wear ready for the Cobb Relays.
