Homework:
I have put up a schedule (albeit a tentative one) on the white board that illustrates our schedule for the remainder of the school year (5 weeks! yikes!). PLease make sure to look at it and keep up with your work. This week we will finish Gatsby, introduce the style and conventions paper (your last one!) and then begin our poetry unit. Next week we will look at poetry all week (you will have a final assessment for the poetry unit that you will work on during Thanksgiving. I will give you the assignment ahead of time if you would like to work on it early. The week after Thanksgiving we will be practicing our Listening, Speaking, and Viewing skills-- reading advertisements, examining speeches, and working to give speeches ourselves. We will also review for the EOCT! The week of December 8, students will take their final exam (the eoct) and then we will present our speeches and begin reading Of Mice nad Men. The last week of school, we will continue with and finish Of Mice and Men, and, of course, take our class final test (taken during final exams).

Students will also have the opportunity, if they choose, to revise ONE paper for a new grade. I will give the specifics of this this week, and students will turn in that revised paper on the morning of December 8 before school. This is an optional assignment.

Homework (today)
1. Finish Gatsby ch. 8
2. Add to your character sheets! (I will check them tomorrow)
3. Revise your research paper--by looking at your rubric!-- and run it through TurnItIn.com! The Report and the final draft will be due IN CLASS on Friday, October 14! NON NEGOTIABLE!
4. Finish Gatsby for Wednesday and finish your character sheets!
