Standards for American Literature Honors

The GPS (Georgia Performance Standards) comprise the curriculum for this class. If students or parents want to know what we do, or why we are doing it, click on the links below to find out the answer!

Standards are labeled with a number, so often students will see things like ELAALRL1 posted around the room, and sometimes on the blog! This just means that the activity we are doing meets that standard.

The great thing about English, however, is that every day, we work towards almost all of the standards. We will work to analyze and interpret literature and theme (ELAALRL1 and ELAALRL2), we will establish historical context (ELAALRL3), we will write everyday (ELA11W1 and ELAA11W2), and we will interact and discuss with each other (ELA11LSV2). This doesn't even include our vocabulary or grammar study, not to mention when we do research.
