         <title>Week of December 8-12</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>Monday - Friday  <br />
Monday - Friday</p>

<p>Essential Question?  How does one use the elements and principles of design to complete a design project?</p>

<p>Continue to work on Tote Bag.  <br />
Each step in the sewing process  will be demonstrated.<br />
The Goal is for each of the totes to be completed by Friday.<br />
I will be available on Tuesday and Friday afternoon from 3:30 - 4:45 for help sessions.</p>

<p>If students finish tote, they will research housing styles through the ages.  Students can choose a group (only 5 total allowed in each group).  Once group is chosen, group will decide which housing style they want to construct with cardboard.  Over the weekend, each student will bring in the necessary supplies (graham crackers, candy, frosting, etc.) to complete House.  </p>]]></description>

Essential Question:  How does tghe appropriateness of a desing relate to interior design?<br />
Stnadard CT.FACS.5.10<br />
Essential Question:  How do the elements and principles of design relate to interior design?  </p>

<p>Monday November 10   <br />
Using Paper, Each table will make a pattern for the tote bag.</p>

<p>Tuesday and Wednesdat November 11and 12<br />
The fabric that was ordered wholesale has arrived.  The students who ordered need to bring in $13.00 for 1-5/8 yards of fabric.  If a check is written, please make it payable  to Harrison High School.  THe students will still need to purcahse a 7" zipper and the ribbon to match the fabric.<br />
Demonstration on how to place pattern on fabric.<br />
Students cut out fabric using pattern.<br />
Students will be assigned a sewing partner.</p>

<p>Thursday and Friday<br />
Demonstration on how to press handles of tote and sew on ribbon.<br />
Each student will sew on ribbon to handle. If student does not want ribbon and alternative finishing technique will be demonstrated.<br />
Worksheets on Principles of desing are due on Friday.</p>]]></description>

The learner will be able to create a design and explain each element if the design.<br />

How does one identify and sketch examples of linen (Horizontal, vertical, curved, and diagonal?<br />
CT.FACS.4.3   Shape and Form<br />
What is the dir=fference between shape and form?<br />
CT.FACS.4.4   Use of Space<br />
What is the difference between positive and negative space? </p>

<p>Monday - Review Chapter 18 The Role of Color in Design.  After review, Chapter 18 quiz.<br />
Students need to tell me by know by Friday if they want me to order double sided quilted fabric or if they are going to purchase it themselves.  <br />
Supply letters will go home today and need to be signed by THURSDAY.<br />
Please look online at fabri-quilt.com to look at the double-sided quilted fabrics that I can order for the wholesale price through school.  When you go into the site-click Products and then find quilted fabrics.  There are 59 choices.<br />
The fabric will cost $8.00 per yard.  The same fabric can be purchased at fabric.com for $17.98 per yard.<br />
The quality of the fabric is very good.<br />
Continue to work on the 8 color schemes.</p>

         <title>Intro to Interior Design   October 20-24</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>Standard                   Elements of Design       PS4<br />
The learner will be able to create a design and expalin each element used in the design.</p>

<p>Essential Questions for the week.<br />
What effect does intensity and value have on various hues?<br />
What factors need to be considered when planning a color scheme?</p>

<p>Monday -  Using tempra paints, choose one cool color and one warm color and complete the activity for intensity and value.    <br />
Using tempra paints - illustrate the neutral and near-neutral colors on the worksheet.</p>

<p>Tuesday - Power Point presentation on COLOR SCHEMES<br />
 Wednesday - Using the  6 color schemes introduced (monochromatic, analogous, triadic, complementary, double-complementary and split-complementary)  and handouts of different rooms (bedroom, kitchen, living room and dining room), choose different rooms to create a monochromatic, analougous, triadic, coomplenemtary, doulbe-complementary, and split complementary color scheme.    Label each room with the color scheme used.  6 color schemed rooms will be turned in for a grade.<br />
Wednesday -  Continue Color schemes<br />
QUIZ ON COLOR WILL BE MONDAY.<br />
Thursday -  I will be taking each class to Senior Year Survivor, a play by the drama department.  If time allows, students will finish color schemes</p>

<p>Friday - Finish using magazines to find examples of the six color schemes.<br />

I have found a source for double sided quilted fabric and will be albe to get the whoesale price of $8.00 per yard.<br />
Today in class I am going to show the students the samples of fabric that is available.  I will send a letter home detailing the Monogrammed Tote Bag Project and the fabric that is needed.<br />
Walmart is discontinuining their fabrics and Joanne and Hancock have limited selections.</p>]]></description>

Each table will chose a color (black, brown, green, yellow, red, blue, or green).  Each member of the group will work to create illustrations of everything they can think of that is related to their color using only the color pencil of thier color. <br />
If anyone has not complated pillow - it must be completed by Friday.<br />

Continue to work on magazine project for Chapter 1.  Imagine what type of home you will live in when you are 20,45, and 70.  Find 2 pictures of exterior of homes and 2 pictures of interior of homes that represent the lifestyles of ages 20, 45, and 70.  Glue pictures creatively to construction paper and explain how these pictures  reflectg your goals at each of these stages of life.</p>

Complete worksheets</p>

<p>Thursday and Friday -  Students who have not finished pillows need to complete.  FInish working on Magazine Project and Chapter 19 worksheets.<br />

<p>1.  Check Corded Pillow supplies.<br />
2.  Check Sheet for threading the bobbin and the machine.<br />
3.  Work on sample sewing assignment.  (2- 6" squares of fabric  sewn together with 1/4", 1/2", 5/8", and 3/4" seam allowances.  In the center of the square practice 3 zig zag stitches).<br />
4.  Quiz on Chapter 4 careers, designer vs. decorator, and  4 basic decorating styles will be on Wednesday.</p>
