This week the Standard that will be covered is
PS4: Elements of Design
The learner will be able to create a design and explain each element if the design.
Essential Questions
CT.FACS.4.2 Examples of Line
How does one identify and sketch examples of linen (Horizontal, vertical, curved, and diagonal?
CT.FACS.4.3 Shape and Form
What is the dir=fference between shape and form?
CT.FACS.4.4 Use of Space
What is the difference between positive and negative space?

Monday - Review Chapter 18 The Role of Color in Design. After review, Chapter 18 quiz.
Students need to tell me by know by Friday if they want me to order double sided quilted fabric or if they are going to purchase it themselves.
Supply letters will go home today and need to be signed by THURSDAY.
Please look online at fabri-quilt.com to look at the double-sided quilted fabrics that I can order for the wholesale price through school. When you go into the site-click Products and then find quilted fabrics. There are 59 choices.
The fabric will cost $8.00 per yard. The same fabric can be purchased at fabric.com for $17.98 per yard.
The quality of the fabric is very good.
Continue to work on the 8 color schemes.

Tuesday and Wednesday
I will be out at a training class.
Worksheets on Chapter 17 The Elements of Design.
If the 8 color schemes are not complete, they must be complete by Thursday.

Power Point on Elements of Design
Check parent signature for Monogrammed Tote bag supplies.

Friday
Work in groups to find examples of THe elements of Design. When completed, the collages will be placed in the hall.

Intro to Interior Design October 20-24

Standard Elements of Design PS4
The learner will be able to create a design and expalin each element used in the design.

Essential Questions for the week.
What effect does intensity and value have on various hues?
What factors need to be considered when planning a color scheme?

Monday - Using tempra paints, choose one cool color and one warm color and complete the activity for intensity and value.
Using tempra paints - illustrate the neutral and near-neutral colors on the worksheet.

Tuesday - Power Point presentation on COLOR SCHEMES
Wednesday - Using the 6 color schemes introduced (monochromatic, analogous, triadic, complementary, double-complementary and split-complementary) and handouts of different rooms (bedroom, kitchen, living room and dining room), choose different rooms to create a monochromatic, analougous, triadic, coomplenemtary, doulbe-complementary, and split complementary color scheme. Label each room with the color scheme used. 6 color schemed rooms will be turned in for a grade.
Wednesday - Continue Color schemes
QUIZ ON COLOR WILL BE MONDAY.
Thursday - I will be taking each class to Senior Year Survivor, a play by the drama department. If time allows, students will finish color schemes

Friday - Finish using magazines to find examples of the six color schemes.

I have found a source for double sided quilted fabric and will be albe to get the whoesale price of $8.00 per yard.
Today in class I am going to show the students the samples of fabric that is available. I will send a letter home detailing the Monogrammed Tote Bag Project and the fabric that is needed.
Walmart is discontinuining their fabrics and Joanne and Hancock have limited selections.

Intro to Interior Design October 13-17

Essential Question What role does color have in design?
How can color be used tgo create moods and illusions?
How are primary colors used to create other colors on the color wheel?
What effects do value and intensity have on various hues?

Monday - Power Point on THE ROLE OF COLOR IN DESIGN
Color Questionaire and discussion
Psychology of Color handouts given and discussed
Each table will chose a color (black, brown, green, yellow, red, blue, or green). Each member of the group will work to create illustrations of everything they can think of that is related to their color using only the color pencil of thier color.
If anyone has not complated pillow - it must be completed by Friday.
Tuesday - complete illustrations
Share illustrations with class

Wednesday - \PSAT TESTING - no classes

Thursday and Friday
Using red, blue and yellow paints create a color wheel
using paints - work on shades, tints, and values of colors

THe pillows have been going home and will continue to be completed. They are beautiful and the students should be very proud of their accomplishment.

Intro to Interior Design October 6-10

Monday and Tuesday - Continue to work on Sewing Pillow. Pillow needs to be done by the end of class on Tuesday.
Continue to work on magazine project for Chapter 1. Imagine what type of home you will live in when you are 20,45, and 70. Find 2 pictures of exterior of homes and 2 pictures of interior of homes that represent the lifestyles of ages 20, 45, and 70. Glue pictures creatively to construction paper and explain how these pictures reflectg your goals at each of these stages of life.

Wednesday - Begin Color Chapter 19
Complete worksheets

Thursday and Friday - Students who have not finished pillows need to complete. FInish working on Magazine Project and Chapter 19 worksheets.
