Week of August 25-29

Standards World of Interior Design
The following Standards will be addressed while completing the Career Brochures. After students research career and create a brochure, the brochure will be shared with the class. The students will take notes on each career preseted and will have knowledge of at least 25 career opportunities in the field of interior design.

PS1 The learner will be able to identify career opportunities in commercial and residentail interior design and wmployment qualifications.
CT,FACS.1.3 Commercial Interior Design
EQ? What are the types of careers found in the field of commercial interior design? Outline the career qualifications of those careers.
CT.FACS.1.4 Residential Interior Design
EQ? What are the types of careers found in the field of residential Interior Design? Outline the career qualifications of those careers.
CT.FACS. 1.5 Career Ladder Opportunities
EQ? What are slternative career ladders in the interior design field?

Monday - Students given Corded Pillow supply list. Parents sign. Return the signed supply list by Wednesday for 10 points.

Monday and Tuesday August 25-26
Computer Lab to research career. Use Publisher to create brochure following template given in class.
Class will complete brochures next week. Computer Lab time is scheduled for September 3rd and 4th.

Wednesday - check parent signature for corded pillow project. Continue sewing machine practice. Students have until tomorrow to bring in signed signature for corded pillow project.

Thursday - Video on Clothing Fibers.- Take notes - write a summary of information learned. Group 10 point quiz on videol. Scavanger Hut on 22 sewing notions.
Friday - Video on Manufactured and Synthetic Fibers - take notes . Teacher demonstration of fabrics - decorator fabrics vs. clothing fabrics. Continue sewing machine practice fi time allows.

Joann Fabrics is having a Labor Day sale. Students should take advantage of the sale to purchase supplies for Pillow Project. They only have to buy fabric and all-purpose sewing thread to match fabric. Bring supply sheet tto store for fabric requirements.

Standard - Current Trends PS3 Trends and Issues
The learner will be able to describe how trends and issures have an impact on interior Design.
CT.FACS.3.1 Current Trends - Essential Question?
What are the current trends in the interior desing industry?
Power Point on the 4 most common decorating styles- casual, formal/traditional, modern/contemporary and eclectic
Take notes
Work in groups - each groups will work on one of the 4 decorating styles and complete a collage with pictures taken from magazines that relate to the style. Characteristics of the style must also be listed on the collage.

Tuesday August 19
finish collage and present to class
If time permits - practice sewing on sewing machines

Wednesday - August 20
The class will be working on a Career Brochure for the next 2 weeks. Each student will pick one of 28 careers in the interior design field and reseach that career and complete a Career Brochure which will be presented to the class. Research will be done in the computer lab. The following standards will be covered.

Each student will pick a career.
Handouts to be completed will be given.
Use class interior design book - read and take notes on worksheets provided about the career that was chosen

Welcome Back. This semester I will be only teaching Introduction to Interior Design. My planning is 2nd block.

Monday August 11

Standard World of Interior Design
PS1: The learner will be able to identify career opportunities in commercial and residentail interior design and employment qualifications.

CT.FACS.1.1. Scope of Industry
Essential QUestion? What is the scope of the interior design industy today in the United States and abroad?

Monday: August 11

Syllabus will be given and discussed.
Interest survey will be filled out.
Students will work in groups to complete group activity on What is Interior Design? After brainstorming and recoding on paper, groups will present information to class.
Power Point Presentation on Interior Design and economic impact in the US and abroad.

Tuesday August 12
Standard: CT.FACS.1.2 Interior Designer/Decorator
Essential Question? What is the difference between an interior Designer vs. an Interior Decorator in relation to their preparation, training, talents, and education?
Complete KWL
Read information about interior designers and interior decorators and take notes
Complete a Venn diagram
Work in groups to create a poster about the similarities and differences

Wednesday

What's your Decorating Style? 30 questtion Power Point Questionaire will be completed and analyzed to determine one of the 4 most popular decorating styles-Casual, Formal/Traditional, Slick/Modern/Comtemporary, and Eclectic.

Thursday
After completing What's Your Style? questionnaire, analyze results to determine what is your style.
Power Point on Parts of the Sewing machine - take notes on sheet provided - Put in notebook

Friday
Demonstration on use of sewing machine
Working with partners - stitch straight and curved lines on worksheets provided.
