2008-2009 commemorates my 11th year of teaching, my 4th as a Harrison Hoya. My experience includes four years teaching middle school Language Arts as well as seven years teaching 9th-12th grade literature at schools in both Missouri and Georgia. In addition to teaching literature, I am the advisor to The Tradition, Harrison’s school newspaper and a member of Harrison's SIP committee.
I received my undergraduate degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Missouri—Columbia in 1997. I moved to Georgia in 2000 and graduated with my Masters in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University in 2005. This past summer I discovered a love of acting (and increased my love of Shakespeare) during a week-long Shakespeare Institute with the Folger Library. During the class, I got to act a scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream on the stage at the Shakespeare Tavern in Atlanta. I don't think it was Oscar worthy, but it was FUN!
I love living in the South. While I go to Missouri to visit family often and my heart bleeds St. Louis Cardinal red, Georgia is my home. My son and I love swimming at the pool, playing soccer, and reading books. He is in 1st grade at Due West, and keeps me incredibly busy. When I have time, I also enjoy watching movies and Jeopardy! (we DVR it every night) and cooking new things for dinner. (If my son had his way, we’d eat PBJ every night!)

Teaching is my greatest passion, aside from being a mom, and I enjoy challenging students and helping them broaden their minds.
