ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #16--el 1 a 5 de diciembre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 1 de diciembre)
1. Students turned in their family and friend projects. Projects will be accepted late; however, 10 points will be deducted for each day that it is late.
2. Students watched the Pixar Movie "Cars" and filled out a worksheet with sentences with "ser" and "estar" as well as a crossword puzzle reviewing the vocabulary and characters of the film.
HOMEWORK: Make sure that you complete the Cars Worksheet. You don't have to finish watching the movie to complete the ser/estar side.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #15--el 17 a 21 de noviembre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 17 de noviembre)
1. Students had the opportunity to practice their verbal questions with partners. The verbal tests begin on Wednesday.
2. Students began writing 20 sentences about the following picture; if not completed in class--the picture is below! This picture will be used with descriptive sentences for a portion of the reading section on the test.
3. Sra. Kirkland went over the homework and did a homework check; the gold sheets were collected.
4. Students received flash cards with household chore vocabulary and we played slaps.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 18 de noviembre)
Sra. Kirkland was absent...we missed her;-(
1. Students worked on a practice quiz (5-1B) with partners and we went over it.
2. We went over what will be on the cumulative test that will be held on Friday, November 21st.
3. We had a paired practice for the verbal test and students were graded both as listeners and speakers for a quiz grade.
4. We played slaps with the household chore vocabulary.
5. We went over the 20 sentences that should have been written about the paragraph; if you have not finished, make sure that you do so before the homework check tomorrow!
HOMEWORK: Activities 1-4 on page 166 and finish NiceNet postings. The due date for the project has been moved to December 1st so that they will be fenomenal;-D

VERBAL TEST #3
1. Sra. Kirkland went over activities 1-4 on page 166 and then did a homework check.
2. Students were graded as listeners and speakers as they prepared for the verbal test.
3. Sra. Bruner explained the delay in the test and projects.
4. Students received review packets for Chapters 1 and 2.
Attached is a list of TOPICS and location for studying purposes for the test on Friday. If you download and print and bring to class with your name written in INK on the review sheet, it is worth 25 pesos to you...don't forget to CAN THE MAN!!! Also worth 25 pesos.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #14--el 10 a 14 de noviembre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 10 de noviembre)
1. Students began class by reviewing ESTAR and -AR verbs on the worksheet 31/32.
2. Sra. Kirkland went over the worksheet for team points.
3. Sra. Bruner explained how to conjugate -ER and -IR verbs. Students needed to write 10 sentences using vivir with the 10 subjects of their projects.
4. Students worked on Act. 7 on page 146 and Sra. Kirkland did a homework check today!
HOMEWORK: Activities 16 & 17 on pages 150-151. Make sure that you post our first four paragraphs to NiceNet by 10:00p.m. on November 10th (that's tonight!) Your posting for the 5th person is due by Tuesday, Nov. 11th at 10:00p.m.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 11 de noviembre)
1. Students translated the paragraph on page 49 of the workbook and completed the page for classwork; students worked with partners on this activity.
2. Sra. Kirkland went over last night's homework in class and did a homework check.
3. Sra. Bruner went over negative expressions, terms of frequency and more expressions like gustar.
LA TAREA: p. 54 in the workbook and post paragraph #5 on NiceNet.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 12 de noviembre)
1. Students completed activities 1-5 on pages 160-161.
2. We went to the computer lab to straighten out the NiceNet issues. All incorrectly posted items were deleted. Make sure that you REPLY to topics on the Conferencing section under your class period.
3. Students received a worksheet with practice on the verb IR and subject pronouns.
4. Students received the verbal questions for next Thursday's test.
HOMEWORK: Finish what was not completed in class. For extra pesos, go to Sra. Kirkland's blog and/or bring in cans for "Can the Man!"

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 13 de noviembre)
1. In the computer lab, we will be working in stations today. The groups are as follows:
(1) Review of conjugation and endings with Sra. Kirkland.
(2) Review of writing and paragraph needs/issues.
(3) Take self-tests as a review for where you are with respect to preparation for next Thursday's test.

VIERNES--FRIDAY (el 14 de noviembre)
1. Sra. Bruner told everyone about the disabled websites; therefore, what you did in the computer lab yesterday will simply count for extra credit...no worries!
2. Sra. Kirkland played verb relay with teams of four.
3. Students received a practice quiz and worked with new "gorilla" partners on the activity. We went over the activity and the translations that are #1 on the blue homework check sheet.
4. We had a Quiz on -AR, -ER- and -IR verbs...it was basically a matching quiz and very similar to the practice activity.
HOMEWORK: Post on NiceNet by deadlines and work on your verbal questions for next week's test.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #13--el 3 a 7 de noviembre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 27 de octubre)
1. Students translated the four paragraphs on page 122 to English (La Tarea #5)
2. Sra. Bruner went over the -AR verbal questions that people should have had 50 responses for and Sra. Kirkland went over the crossword puzzle; then, there was a homework check.
3. Sra. Bruner had students copy 10 sentences that had problems that were consistent in the writings about self; we corrected them in class.
4. Sra. Bruner went over how sentences should be structured when we are writing/speaking about people in the third person.
HOMEWORK: Write the second paragraph for your project on YOUR MOTHER; make sure that you include: NAME, AGE, BIRTHDAY, 2 LIKES, 2 DISLIKES, 3 ACTIVITIES, PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION, and PERSONALITY TRAITS.

1. Students wrote a project paragraph about fathers or father figures.
2. Sra. Kirkland explained how to conjugate the verb "ir" and how to talk about activities on certain days of the week.
3. Students were to complete Act. 27 on page 123, Act. 30 on page 125, and Activities 6-9 on pages 130-131
4. There was a homework check and students received feedback on the paragraphs written about mothers.
5. Students received a sentence translation activity to work on for group points. Click HERE to get a copy if you were absent or lost it.
***Sra. Bruner added a new requirement for ALL pages of the project; you MUST have a sentence using the verb "ir"--Ex.: Voy al cine con mi madre.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 6 de noviembre)
1. Make sure that you have through page 45 in the Practice Workbook complete; this was part of the warm-up activity today!
2. Sra. Kirkland and Sra. Bruner went over last night's homework check and revisited -AR verbs, gustar expressions, and the use of "ni...ni" in negative statements.
3. Sra. Bruner went over the 25 sentence practice exercise and assigned a 10 sentence one for tonight.
HOMEWORK: finish the 10 sentence exercise page AND write a paragraph about a sibling for your project.

VIERNES--FRIDAY (el 7 de noviembre)
1. Today, we joined a discussion board located at www.nicenet.org. To join the class, you have to create a user name and then put in a class key; the class key for our discussion is 8253Z77S92. From this point forward, you will have to show that you are on task and on time for your project by posting on NiceNet. I will give you feedback via email so MAKE SURE THAT YOU PUT AN EMAIL ADDRESS in NiceNet when it asks for it!
2. We went over the worksheet and homework for last night.
3. Students turned in their paragraphs on a sibling.
HOMEWORK: Post your four paragraphs that you have written thusfar by Monday at 10:00p.m. Remember that NiceNet has a date/time stamp.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #12--el 27 a 31 de octubre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 27 de octubre)
1. There was a warm-up translating -AR verb sentences.
2. We went over #9 & #10 on the Homework Check
3. We played slaps with -AR verbs and then conjugated them as we played along.
4. Students completed pages 42 and 43 in the Practice workbook.
5. Sra. Bruner went over the verb ESTAR and how to use it.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 28 de octubre)
Sra. Bruner was absent due to illness and students were given an -AR verb packet to complete; Sra. Kirkland was in class to monitor the effort(s).

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 29 de octubre)
1. There was a listening activity and 4-1 Worksheet for students to do for team points.
2. Students are to TRANSLATE the "B" paragraphs on the 4-1 Worksheet (There is one on each side).
3. Sra. Bruner went over "le gusta".
4. Sra. Kirkland went over an -AR activity and we played Hands Down with -AR verbs.
HOMEWORK: Write the first paragraph for your project on YOU; make sure that you include: NAME, AGE, BIRTHDAY, 2 LIKES, 2 DISLIKES, 3 ACTIVITIES, PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION, and PERSONALITY TRAITS.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 30 de octubre)
1. Students completed Activities 4 & 5 on page 129.
2. Sra Kirkland went over the translations of B paragraphs and then did a homework check.
3. Sra. Bruner went over the verb estar and prepositional expressions; students completed activities 19 & 20 on page 118 and page 119 (make sure that you have 3 sentences for each of the question on Activity 20).
4. Students need to make sure that they have completed pages 41 and 42 in the workbook for a group grade.
5. You have ONE MORE DAY to finish your paragraph for the project...yesterday's homework. They will be collected on Friday for a grade.
HOMEWORK: Finish your paragraph about you and take the ONLINE PRACTICE QUIZ. Sra. Kirkland will get a list of those that practiced online for Extra Pesos; there is no need to print your results! Don't forget that there is an -AR verb quiz tomorrow and any of the verbs from Tuesday's packet can be used; not just the verbs on the flash cards.

LUNES--MONDAY (el 20 de octubre)
1. Students worked on a crossword puzzle that reviewed school subject vocabulary. Click HERE to download a .pdf file.
2. Students translated the story on pages 110-111 and completed activites 1-4 on page 112.
3. Make sure that you carefully read the grammar box on page 114.
4. Sra. Bruner completed the verbal portions of the test.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 21 de octubre)
1. We went over the crossword that was completed in class yesterday.
2. We FINALLY finished the partner presentations and notes.
3. Sra. Kirkland did a homework check through La Tarea #6.
4. Sra. Bruner presented -AR verbs.
HOMEWORK: Write two sentences for EACH of the -AR verbs presented. Make sure that you use two different subjects for each verb.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 22 de octubre)
1. Students translated the clues from yesterday's crossword puzzle and we went over the translations for participation points.
2. Sra. Kirkland did a homework check on the translations and the sentences from last night's work while students worked on page 40 in the Practice Workbook.
3. Sra. Bruner reviewed how to conjugate verbs and there were practice sentences for team points.
4. There were more verbs added to the "AR verb:"; click HERE to download a copy of the list. Make sure that you know what all the verbs mean.
5. Students received an -AR verb practice worksheet.
HOMEWORK: Complete page 40 and the -AR verb worksheet.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 23 de octubre)
1. For a warm-up, students read the grammar note on page 116 and worked on Activities 1 & 2 on page 128. Students are to "write out" the paragraph for #1 and translate it to English for homework.
2. Sra. Kirkland explained a graphic organizer for conjugating -AR verbs) and went over yesterday's homework.
3. Page 40 of the workbook was counted for team points and there was a homework check.
4. Sra. Bruner gave everyone flash cards for 20 of the -AR verbs; these are the ones that will be on the quiz tomorrow.
HOMEWORK: Make sure that you completed Act. 1 & 2 on page 128 and translated the paragraph for #1 to English AND take a PRACTICE QUIZ to get ready for tomorrow's quiz on -AR verbs.

VIERNES--FRIDAY (el 24 de octubre)

1. Students worked on pages 33-36 in the workbook.
2. Students had time to work with partners prior to presentations.
3. Students presented in pairs their dialogues and took notes on the presentations of others. Sra. Bruner asked questions for participation points.
4. Sra. Kirkland went over the verbal questions that will be on Friday's test.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #9--el 6 a 10 de octubre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 6 de octubre)
1. There was a telling time warm-up activity on the board.
2. Sra. Kirkland went over Friday's packet for participation points.
3. Several of the pages counted for team points as well as participation.
4. Sra. Bruner conducted a listening quiz for telling time.
5. Students received the first five questions that will be used on the next verbal test: (1) ¿Qué hay en tu mochila?(2) ¿Qué hay en tu cuarto? (3) De qué color es tu cuarto? (4) ¿Qué necesitas para la clase de ___? (5) ¿Qué hora es?

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 7 de octubre)
SRA. BRUNER IS ABSENT DUE TO PURE EXHAUSTION!!!
1. Students are to do Activity 16 on page 88 and write sentences about what time the classes occur.
2. Students are to complete Activity 19 on page 89 and write sentences about themselves. This can serve as potential questions/dialogue exchange for the next activity.
3. Students will work with a partner to create a dialogue for two people that have never met. They are to introduce themselves to each other and find out as much information as they can about one another, including their school schedules and opinions about their teachers and activities.
4. Students need to read pages 90 and 92 and Sra. Kirkland will go over the verb ser, descriptive adjectives,and adjective agreement. Information given can help with describing people in the dialogue skit.
5. Students practice the questions that they received yesterday with two partners in class today to prepare for the verbal quiz.
HOMEWORK: Worksheet packet on adjectives and the verb SER.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 8 de octubre)
1. Warm-up: Students completed Act. 24 on page 93.
2. Sra. Bruner went over yesterday's work for participation points.
3. Students were given the opportunity to work on their dialogues with their partners. We will begin presentations on Friday.
4. Students received the remainder of their interview questions to prepare for the verbal for the unit test (next week).
HOMEWORK: Be ready to have a final homework check for La Tarea #5; they will be turned in tomorrow!

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 9 de octubre)

1. Students worked on pages 29-32 in the Practice Workbook.
2. Students worked with partners on meet/greet school dialogue (we will begin presentations on Friday for a quiz grade).
3. Students worked with 2 partners prepareing for the Verbal Test for this theme.
HOMEWORK: Be prepared to present your dialogues beginning TOMORROW!!! All dialogues MUST have the following included: 1. Meet & greet; 2. Exchange of names; 3. Telling time; 4. Exchange of class schedules; 5. Opinions about a class and a teacher; 6. Talking about after school activities; 7. Say good-bye appropriately.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #8--el 29 de septiembre al 3 de octubre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 29 de septiembre)
TODAY WAS JUNIOR TESTING AND WE WERE IN 2ND PERIOD FOR A LOOOOOOOOONG TIME!!
1. Students completed their VOCABULARY QUIZ, on school supplies and room vocabulary in the computer lab.
2. Students completed self-test for participation points by clicking the links below. They could practice before taking the self-test or take it without doing so.
CHAPTER ONE SELF-TEST (for participation points)...raise your hand when you have completed this test to get your participations points.
CHAPTER TWO SELF-TEST...raise your hand when you have completed for more participation points.
Students can take the self-tests online for extra credit points IF they bring in a print out from home that they have done so.

When you have finished BOTH self-tests, you may play HANGMAN (El Ahorcado) with the color vocabulary. Also, there is a wordsearch with animals and they will give you the words to look for.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 30 de septiembre)
TODAY WAS JUNIOR TESTING AND WE WERE IN 3RDPERIOD FOR A LOOOOOOOOONG TIME!!
1. We reviewed a LOT of what we have done to this point with verbal practice and Sra. Bruner went over how to tell time.
2. Students completed an activity on how to tell time and we went over it for participation points.
3. Students completed activities 10 and 11 on page 85 as well as 12 and 14 on page 86.
4. Students worked in groups to complete page 28 in the workbook for team points. Sra. Kirkland went over the activities as well as checked for the homework.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 1 de octubre)
1. There was a warm-up with telling time and participation points that followed.
2. Students read the story on page 81 and completed activities 1-5 on page 82.
3. Students received flash cards on classroom subjects.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 2 de octubre)
1. Warm-Up: Students read page 88 and completed a telling time activity for participation points.
2. Students worked in groups to complete pages 35-27 in the practice workbook for team points. [This worksheet is #6 on the La Tarea sheet.]
3. Attached is a TELLING TIME PRACTICE that was handed out for homework and students completed a practice quiz on the back of this handout for team points. [This worksheet is #7 on the La Tarea sheet.]
4. Students played Telling Time Bingo for pesos.
THERE WILL BE A TIME QUIZ TOMORROW!! Students need to be able to write the digital form of time when they hear the teacher say the time in Spanish.

VIERNES--FRIDAY (el 3 de octubre)
Homecoming Pep Rally and Parade (hence, a CRAZY day!!!)
Sra. Bruner was absent due to planning the Homecoming Festivities and needing to run NUMEROUS errands. There was a sub that handed out a review packet for Chapter 3 vocabulary that we have done to date.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #7--el 22 a 26 de septiembre

LUNES--MONDAY (el 22 de septiembre)
Sra. Bruner was absent and Sra. Kirkland was "voiceless" so students watched "El Shrek Dos" and were supposed to write down the Spanish subtitles that we had learned in class and that they already understand; however, the sub could not figure out how to make the subtitles work...oh well!

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 23 de septiembre)
1. Students reviewed numbers 0-100+ and then we played "El juego rápido" for team points and participation.
2. Sra. Kirkland went over the review crossword for participation points and then did a homework check.
3. Students worked on Activities 7-10 on pages 68-69 and Activities 1, 4, 6 and 7 on pages 70-71.
4. #1 on page 70 is a listening activity that we did in class.
HOMEWORK: Finish the classwork not completed in class.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 24 de septiembre)
JUNIOR WRITING TEST DAY--2nd period is extended so we will complete 2 listening activities and then watch a movie; be sure to bring food and beverage because we will be in class for a LONG time (until 11:10a.m.) and cannot leave. 3rd period will only have time for the listening activities.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 25 de septiembre)
Sra. Bruner and Sra. Kirkland will be out today for an inservice; you will have two substitutes--BE GOOD!!!!
Students received a packet of work that included practice quizzes and a practice test (There will be a vocabulary quiz on Monday.)

LUNES--MONDAY (el 15 de septiembre)
1. Students completed worksheet 13 & 14 and Sra. Kirkland went over it for team points.
2. Students reviewed worksheet 11 & 12 and Sra. Kirkland went over it for team points.
3. Students wrote a paragraph describing their bedroom at home.
4. Students completed activities 1-6 on pages 66 and 67.
5. Sra. Kirkland checked the homework sheet La Tarea #3.
HOMEWORK: Make sure that your room paragraph is well-written; it will count for a quiz grade and is due on Tuesday. Be sure to attach your illustration or photograph (which must be in COLOR) and make sure that you do NOT use a translator. If your paragraph includes vocabulary or grammar that is NOT something that we have done in class, you will receive a ZERO!!!! This needs to be what you can write and not a translator or a tutor or native speaker friend!!!

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 16 de septiembre)
Early Release Day
1. Students worked on pages 18-24 in the workbook after an explanation of muchos and cuantos.
2. Students worked in pairs (if they had their assignment) on talking about their room; those that did not have their pictures and paragraphs today are getting zeros on quiz grades unless they bring them in on Wednesday.
3. It was a short day so finish the workbook for homework if you did not complete it in class.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 17 de septiembre)
1. Sra. Bruner went over the workbook pages and we did several of them for team points.
2. Students made lists of their needs and wants that they discussed with partners.
3. Students wrote sentences about the wants and needs of their partners.
HOMEWORK: Activities 28 & 29 on page 61 and Activities 32, 33, and 35 on pages 62-63.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 18 de septiembre)
1. Sra. Bruner went over the homework and then there was a homework check with Sra. Kirkland.

3. We went over vocabulary because THERE WILL BE A VOCABULARY QUIZ ON FRIDAY!!! The vocabulary quiz is over school supplies and things in a room.
4. We went to the computer lab for vocabulary practice. Students can also practice tonight online (if proof is brought in, it is worth extra pesos).

VIERNES--FRIDAY (el 19 de septiembre)
1. Students went over school and room vocabulary with flash cards to prepare for the quiz; they were encouraged to focus on spealling.
2. Sra. Kirkland led the class through two games of slaps to further review the vocabulary prior to the quiz.
3. Sra. Kirkland went over the homework worksheets and completed a homework check.
4. Students took a vocabulary quiz on school and room object vocabulary.
HOMEWORK: Students received a review vocabulary crossword puzzle to complete after the quiz and if they did not finish it in class, it is homework.

LUNES--MONDAY (el 8 de septiembre)
1. Students had the chance to practice for their Verbal Test with several partners prior to testing.
2. There was a timed writing test.
3. There was a listening portion of the test.
4. There was a reading portion of the test.
HOMEWORK: Translate pages 48 and 49. Do Activities 1-5 on page 50 and complete pages 13 and 14 in the Practice Workbook.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 9 de septiembre)
1. Sra. Bruner went over definite and indefinite articles.
2. Students completed Activities 7 and 9 on pages 51 and 52 as well as 13A on page 54.
3. The remainder of the verbal tests were taken with Sra. Bruner while Sra. Kirkland reviewed the homework.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 2 de septiembre)
Sra. Bruner was at a workshop so students received a packet of review materials which Sra. Kirkland led the class through. Students were able to review countries and capitals with slaps and Sra. Kirkland went over parts of the packet; what was not completed in class MUST be done for homework.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 3 de septiembre)
1. Students received a practice GEOGRAPHY quiz for a warm-up. THERE WILL BE A GEOGRAPHY QUIZ TOMORROW!!!
2. Sra. Kirkland went over the quiz as well as the remainder of yesterday's work and students turned in the second homework check sheet "La Tarea #2".
3. Students worked with a partner to prepare for the verbal test.
4. Students worked on a practice test (Reading & Writing) while the verbal tests began. The Unit 1 test will be on Monday, Sept. 8th.
5. What was not completed in class is homework!

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #3--el 25 a 29 de agosto

OPEN HOUSES: Sophomores & Seniors (Tuesday, Aug. 26) and Juniors & Freshmen (Thursday, Aug. 28). Students receive 50 pesos if teachers and parents meet at Open House.

LUNES--MONDAY (el 25 de agosto)
1. Students began class by doing activities 25 and 26 on page 30 as well as translating the 4 introduction paragraphs on page 31.
2. Captains and teams were chosen. Students moved into their teams, went over numbers, and played slaps for team points.
3. Sra. Bruner and Sra. Kirkland went over the "gustar" structure and asked questions about likes and dislikes for team points.
LA TAREA: Do activities 6-9 on pages 40 and 41.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 26 de agosto)
1. Students received and cut out flash cards for both countries & capitals as well as those for likes & dislikes.
2. Students worked on pages 8-12 in the workbook. Sra. Kirkland went over the forms of tener and ser. A review of this is on pages 27 and 28.
3. Students in 3rd period were able to play slaps; 2nd period needs to work on "self-control".
4. Students received back their grades and were informed about the next verbal quiz which is a "verbal self-portrait".

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 27de agosto)
1. As a warm-up, students did activities 1-6 on page 44; what they did not finish in class must be done for homework.
2. Sra. Bruner went over several of the workbook pages before Sra. Kirkland did a homework check.
3. Students were given a second chance to get Sra. Bruner's biography (under MARTES) and translate it. It is due on Thursday.
4. We did several listening activities and Sra. Kirkland went over them afterwards.
5. Sra. Bruner went over countries and capitals for participation and Sra. Kirkland led the class in a game of slaps.
LA TAREA: Students are to prepare their own biography/self-portrait and be prepared to talk about it on Thursday. This ia both a VERBAL and WRITING assignment. There will be verbal quizzes beginning on Tuesday of next week and the writing assignment is due on Friday of this week. The written biography should include a picture of the student as well as artwork that represents the information presented in the paragraph.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 28 de agosto)
1. Students reviewed geography flash cards before playing slaps for team points.
2. We went over the homework from last night and then completed a homework check.
3. We reviewed how to use gustar and gave students a worksheet to list their likes/dislikes
4. Students received animal partners and practiced their monologues (Due Wed. 9/3) with a partner.
WRITING ASSIGNMENT DUE TOMORROW (-20 points for each day it is late)
The writing assignment and speaking quiz/monologue have essentially the SAME information.

VIERNES--FRIDAY (el 29 de agosto)
1. Students received a grammar activity review worksheet which they completed as a warm-up. We went over it afterwards for team points and it was #8 on the homework check.
2. Students turned in their writing assignments; we reviewed geography and played slaps for participation.
3. Students reviewed the components for the verbal quiz (Wed. 9/3) for participation points.
4. Students had the opportunity to practice their verbal with two partners.
IF YOU DID NOT TURN IN YOUR WRITING ASSIGNMENT, MAKE SURE THAT YOU TURN IT IN TUESDAY. I will have a sub, but make sure that Sra. Kirkland gets your work.

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #2--el 18 a 22 de agosto

LUNES--MONDAY (el 18 de agosto)
1. Sra. Kirkland checked everyone's presentation notes for La Tarea #1-5. Students reviewed number flash cards during the check.
2. We played SLAPS with the number flash cards.
3. Students chose Spanish names (out of the book on page 5) and we went over the alphabet; they had to spell the names to keep them.
4. Students filled out a seating chart with everyone's Spanish names and then found out the birthdates for at least five classmates.
5. Students reviewed greeting vocabulary by playing slaps.

La Tarea:
BRING YOUR BOOK TO CLASS EVERY DAY!!!
Do 1-5 on page 3 in the book as well as Activity #7 on page 7 and Activities 10 and 12 on page 9.

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 19 de agosto)
1. Students cut out alphabet and color flash cards and colored the circles relating to the Spanish words on the back.
2. Students received workbooks that they may write in, but MUST return at the end of the semester or they will be financially responsible to replace them.
3. Sra. Bruner finished going over classmate birthdays and Sra. Kirkland went over last night's homework.
4. There was a homework check while students began working on tonight's homework.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 20 de agosto)
1. Students read (and listened to) the dialogue on pages 18 and 19 and completed activities 1-5 on page 20 for a "La Tarea" assignment.
2. We played slaps using the alphabet cards.
3. Sra. Kirkland went over the workbook pages that had been assigned for homework.
4. There was a homework check.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 21 de agosto)
1. Students received a worksheet on math problems using numbers to 100 (they can be found on page 62) and numbers to 1.000 (found on page 247).
2. We went over the worksheet and spelled out the numbers for alphabet practice.
3. Sra. Kirkland collected the La Tarea #1 sheet after checking the math worksheet for credit. While she collected, students reviewed the alphabet using flashcards.
4. We played Alphabet Bingo for pesos.
5. Students had time to get started on their homework after doing the listening activity on page 2; students are to do activities 10 & 11 on page 23.
***WE WILL BE TAKING THE PRE-TEST FOR SPANISH I TOMORROW---COME TO CLASS PREPARED WITH A #2 PENCIL!!!

ESPAÑOL I/SEMANA #1--el 11 a 15 de agosto

LUNES--MONDAY (el 11 de agosto)
1. Sra. Bruner and Sra. Kirkland welcomed students to the class and went over policies and procedures.
2. Students received a green homework check sheet and their first assignment is listed below under "La Tarea".
3. Sra. Bruner discussed the Extra Credit Peso System (outlined on the syllabus) with students and gave detailed explanation. Students have two opportunities to earn up to 100 pesos by tomorrow. (a) baby pictures and (b) a package of card stock or other school supplies.
4. Students worked with basic greeting and well-being vocabulary; third period was cut short due to numerous drills mandated by the county.

La Tarea:
The first homework assignment for this semester is to bring in the signature page from the Course Syllabus. Make sure that you and your parents read the syllabus and bring the signature page (signed by both of you) to class on Tuesday. Click HERE

MARTES--TUESDAY (el 12 de agosto)
1. Sra. Bruner and Sra. Kirkland checked for last night's homework. Students that did not bring in the signature page need to do so or they will lose 50 pesos each day that they forget. Sra. Bruner gave students copies if they were unable to print them last night.
2. Students cut out their first set of flash cards and we played SLAPS with partners. Study this vocabulary; there will be a quiz tomorrow.
3. Students worked on dialogues with partners that will be presented for a verbal quiz grade on Friday. We will have time to work with partners tomorrow after the quiz....did you get that? YOU HAVE A QUIZ TOMORROW!!!!

La Tarea:
Go to my QUIA website and print out or copy the vocabulary list for GREETINGS & LEAVETAKINGS to bring to class; play one of the games and bring in proof that you have done so for extra credit.

MIÉRCOLES--WEDNESDAY (el 13 de agosto)
1. Students completed a crossword puzzle on greetings and leavetakings. We went over it for participation points.
2. We played two games of slaps with the vocabulary cards to prepare for the quiz.
3. Students worked on partner presentations and had time to study with vocabulary cards for the quiz.
4. PRUEBA #1--SALUDOS 7 DESPEDIDAS
5. Sra. Bruner introduced numbers 1-31 as well as months of the year. We discussed birthdates.

JUEVES--THURSDAY (el 14 de agosto)
1. Students received number and interrogative flashcards to cut out. We went over the words with partners adn then played "slaps".
2. Sra. Bruner reviewed how to express birthday and age; students responded for participation points.
3. Students worked with partners on presentation dialogues and they were checked for La Tarea #3.
4. Sra. Bruner reviewed the greeting vocabulary for participation and Sra. Kirkland led a slaps games for students.

La Tarea: Print out and complete a math worksheet for homework. Due on Friday. Don't forget to practice your dialogue because you have a verbal quiz tomorrow.
