TEACHER EXPERIENCE & ADDITIONAL HARRISON RESPONSIBILITIES:

20 years teaching (13 in Cobb County at Harrison)
Wall Sponsor (Student Government organization that oversees social events, the school store, spirit & pride, video announcements, school service, compassion & care, etc. It is comprised of the Executive Board and students who want to make a difference at HHS.)

CURRENT CLASS SCHEDULE:

Spanish I -- 2nd & 3rd periods
School Store -- 4th period
Leadership -- 5th period

PREVIOUSLY TAUGHT CLASSES:
I have taught all levels of Spanish (from level 1 to AP), Leadership, Drama, Journalism (Yearbook & Newspaper), and Teacher Cadet (to prepare future teachers).

EDUCATION BACKGROUND & CURRENT STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
B.A. in Theatre from Agnes Scott College ('81); M.Ed. in Spanish from Valdosta State University ('91); currently a PhD student at Georgia State University in Language and Literacy with an emphasis on Integrating Technology into the Foreign Language Curriculum

I have been on the writing team for the Georgia Performance Standards in Modern Languages as well as the Thematic Unit Development team.

I am a presenter for the Foreign Language Association of Georgia (FLAG) and have presented at numerous conferences as well as for several school systems. You can find out more about my presentations at www.mariecastrobruner.com.

I was Teacher of the Year for Harrison High School for 2004-05 and I am a National Board Certified Teacher for Spanish.

This is a special year for my family--all of us are teachers. My husband teaches at McClure Middle School and my daughter teaches at Acworth Intermediate. My son and I are both Spanish teachers at Harrison....how cool is that!

***Most importantly, I LOVE what I do...If I wanted to do something else, I would, but this is my PASSION & PURPOSE in life. I enjoy getting to know my students and helping them grow both as students and as people.
