Issue: E-mail Notification Problems
Status: Closed

Updated 3/21/2008, 7:30 a.m. - This problem was resolved on 3/19/2008 and district engineers have been monitoring the system for any lingering problems. Since none have been noted or reported during this time this issue is being closed.

Updated 3/19/2008, 4:15 p.m.- District engineers, in consultation with the software provider, have resolved this issue. The issue will remain open while engineers monitor the system for any further problems.

The e-mail notification feature of the Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) is currently not working properly for all users. For some users, e-mail notifications are either delayed or not going out at all, while other users are not affected. An example of delayed e-mails is a threshhold notification in which you receive an e-mail notifying you that a grade has dropped below a threshhold that you have pre-determined, yet the current grade indicated in the e-mail is above that threshhold.

Software engineers for the school district and the software provider are working to resolve the problem and we will post updates to this page when additional information is available.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that is not listed above, please e-mail your question to pinnacle@harrisonhigh.org

Why the change from i-Parent to Pinnacle?
i-Parent for parents and i-Cue for teachers are built on aging technologies. Over the life of these applications in Cobb County the number of faculty and parent users has increased to the point that the system experiences critical performance issues. Pinnacle is built on newer technologies that will better meet the demands placed upon it by a large school district.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

Was there a security breach in i-Parent that led to the change?
No. The change was prompted by the need for updated technology and by recurring performance issues experienced with i-Parent and its associated applications.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

How do I access the new Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV)?
From the Harrison web page (www.harrisonhigh.org), click on the Pinnacle Viewer Quick Link in the upper, right-hand corner of any page of the site. This will take you to the PIV login page where you will enter your student's Cobb Student ID number and your password.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

Can I continue to use i-Parent?
You will be able to access your i-Parent account through the end of the current school year.
Take me to i-Parent now. However, information viewable within i-Parent will be limited to Fall semester. No new information for Spring semester will be available for viewing through i-Parent.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

If I forget my username/password or have problems with Pinnacle who do I contact for help?
If you have username/password problem or experience problems logging into the Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV), you may contact Debbie Simon via e-mail (
debra.simon@cobbk12.org) or telephone (678-594-8104 x244). If you experience technical difficulties or have questions about functionality, please e-mail pinnacle@harrisonhigh.org.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

I have a middle school student at Lost Mountain. Will I be able to see her information through Pinnacle in addition to my Freshman at Harrison?
Harrison High School is the only school in the District that is using Pinnacle during this field test. You will still use i-Parent to access information about any children that you may have in other schools.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

Will information from Fall semester be included in Pinnacle?
Pinnacle will not include any student grades or attendance recorded before January 8 (the beginning of Spring semester). You will still be able to login to i-Parent through the end of the current school year to view grades and attendance information from Fall semester.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

Will I be able to view Spring semester grades and attendance in both i-Parent and Pinnacle to compare the two applications?
No; that would require teachers to enter grades and attendance into two separate systems. Spring semester grades and attendance will only be viewable through Pinnacle Internet Viewer.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

How do I, as a non-custodial parent, receive a Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) account?
Unfortunately, the current product release that we have for the field test does not provide for more than one parent account per student. Parents may share the single login account or the custodial parent can create e-mail notifications to be periodically delivered to the other parent. Alternatively, the student could share their account with one of their parents or create the same e-mail notifications. Multiple e-mail notifications can be created within a single PIV account. This limitation will be overcome in the next major release of the product due out this summer in time for the new school year.

Return to FAQ List | Top of Page

How can I change an e-mail preference that I have already signed up for?
Repeat the e-mail sign-up process using the same e-mail address that you used originally. This will take you to the notification configuration page which will display the options as you previously configured them. Make the applicable changes to the options and click the Submit Notification Request button. Your new notification options have been registered and you will receive an e-mail detailing the changes made.
