ABOUT THE CEREMONY
Commencement is an optional, dignified, formal ceremony for graduating seniors and their families and guests. Possession of any disruptive objects or disruptive behavior may lead to immediate removal from the ceremony.
We ask the cooperation of all who attend the commencement ceremony to help make it the dignified ceremony it is meant to be. Please refrain from any inappropriate noises that will detract from the dignity of the ceremony. Since this ceremony is an official function of Harrison High School, all Cobb County School District and Harrison High School policies, rules and regulations are in effect.
PROCESSIONAL
The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. with the Parade of Marshals followed by the procession of the platform guests, Senior Advisors and then the Class of 2012. The marshals are made up of the Valedictorian, Salutatorian and the third through tenth ranked members of the class. The Valedictorian carries the school mace while the remaining marshals carrying school banners. This honorary tradition celebrates these students' academic achievements.
RECESSIONAL
Following the ceremony, graduates recess through the back of the arena and return to the Student Recreation and Wellness Center where they receive packets from their advisors. Guests are asked to remain at their seats, keeping all aisles and corridors clear, until all of the graduates have exited. Family and friends may meet the graduates on the Campus Green (refer to campus map). Upon exiting the Convocation Center through the Atrium, bear to the left to get to the Campus Green. There you will have plenty of space and time to mingle and take pictures.
